Mikhailo Shemyakin - biography, photos, paintings, details of the artist’s life. Artist Mikhailo Shemyakin Artist sculptor Mikhailo Shemyakin marvel

Mikhailo Shemyakin was born in Moscow in 1943, spent his childhood in Nimechina, in 1957 he moved with his father to Leningrad and after fourteen years of troubles left him. Primus sent from the country, from the famous corners of Paris, where he gained popularity as one of the leading representatives of aesthetic dissidence.

In 1981, Shemyakin moved to America and from that time on did not sit still, manipulating all over the world in connection with numerous performances, exhibitions and theatrical productions. It is often important to say in which country and in which place you spend most of the hour. The master, not without irony, notes in his interview that most often he has to dawdle with the flyer.
While studying at the school at the Academy of Mysteries, M. Shemyakin prepared himself for the important craft of a sculptor, although he also defeated teachers with his originality, heralding the emergence of a great painter with subtle, almost coloristic harmonies ій. Prote at the continued illumination of the same was encouraged by the share. After the Primus “bath” in the psychiatric hospital, where they housed their religious conversions and defended their interests to the avant-garde mystique, all the paths for the emerging artist appeared close it. Having found his feet in the wild, Shemyakin spent an hour manipulating the Caucasus and gleaning the initial evidence of a spilk with Samitniks, holy fools and homeless fools. After returning to St. Petersburg, he became a rigger in the Hermitage. Seeing today the world's masterpieces, which copy the paintings close to the spirit, the future master, saving the opportunity to continue his official professional education, having completed his “Academy of Mysteries” at the museum. Through the participation of the exhibition, “auxiliary workers” were organized, organized before the 200th anniversary of the Hermitage (1964) and closed by the third day, Shemyakin having spent the rest of the meager living expenses. Prote vin vitrimav viprobuvanya. Difficulties that could harm a weak soul were used for his gain. Shemyakin himself famously praised himself as a master of his original grotesque world. The number of koshtys made them want to take up sculpture; Then, in search of an outlet for creative energy, we turned to painting and graphics. The remains, which did not require great expenditures - the sheep and the paper were enough - became for him the main means of instilling the fantasies of his metaphysically oriented reality. Shemyakin developed a special baby technique, using the finest light-colored transitions. Shemyakin created a chimerical world of images that were not covered by the ruinous influxes of communal life. Vin demonstrated one of the main features of his creative mind: an innate sense of beauty, which is not at all independent of current influences, ideologies, fashion and the artistic market.
As much as it is necessary to illustrate those and other works on the formation of appearances, then Mikhailo Shemyakin was careful in the choice of subjects, including internal impulses and motives. Since school years, everyone has a growing need to create visible images of the writers who are close to them in spirit. This sense of his “illustrative” series has a rich autobiographical character, highlighting the historical moments of his creative development. The stench is a projection of a magical theater, an actor whose objectivity is the light that rises from the depths of the artist’s knowledge. The autobiographical nature of the little ones is clearly evident in the series of illustrations up to “Mischief and Punishment”, from 1964 to 1969. Shemyakin added the main points to the novel, it is important in Raskolnikov’s dreams and visions, as it confronts the hero with the problem of “crossing the threshold.” Having accumulated evidence of support from other people's influxes, the master perceived the deeply controversial idea of Dostoevsky in the fact that the “new” can emerge from life without the result of a sideways “old”, if they bravely cross the cordon, the armchairs of one or the other tradition. In the minds of the 1960s, the avant-garde artist was inevitably seen in the eyes of the owners as an evil violator of ideological laws, who could be put in a psychiatric hospital, expelled from the city and exiled from the country.
At the same time, Shemyakina burst into so-called “gallant scenes.” No one unexpectedly developed a love for the refined culture of the 18th century with its masquerades, pastorals, and eroticism. Through this, Shemyakin began to insure the late “World of Art” artists. However, since the poem “The Light of Mystery” was tinged with an undiminished tinge of sentimentality and nostalgia for the ancient world, Shemyakin further parodies the style of the 18th century, transforming “gallant scenes” into motor cars. and grotesques. The characters in the paintings and hand-made engravings of this cycle most closely resemble soulless dolls. Life goes on like a puppet show, as the invisible hand of a demon leads. However, one should not overstate the importance of the literary-plot element in these works. What is most important here for the master are the complex color harmonies in Watteau’s spirit, the masterfully intertwined lines, the game of forms, flavored with irony, as well as the panicky mood of his light.
Shemyakin has been working on this theme “Carnival of St. Petersburg” - using a variety of techniques and formats: from multi-meter paintings to small engravings - spanning perhaps three decades. “Carnivals” were transformed into an “encyclopedia” of grotesques, based on a deep understanding of the mysteries of human nature in its various contortions, anxieties and grimaces.

Bronze Peter I, who sits on the throne in Petropavlivtsi - one of the most important and most famous images of the reformer king

The 7th of worms marks the 25th anniversary of the unveiling of the most scandalous monument to Peter I at the Peter and Paul Fort, created by Mikhail Shemyakin in 1991. This is a gift from a famous artist to his native place... Peter, whose birthday is celebrated on the 9th of chernia. How was this ambiguous monument created, and other super-intelligent robot masters?

"Petro spider"

Bronze Peter I, who sits on the throne in Petropavlivtsi, is one of the most popular and most famous images of the reformer tsar. The idea of creating a monument, as in Shemyakin’s life, came suddenly. His master has long saved a copy of the surviving wax mask of the Tsar, who was victorious back in 1719 to Rastrelli. Today it is important that Peter’s correct denunciation accurately shows that this is true. One time, Volodymyr Visotsky asked the artist to choose the emperor: “You paint Peter a lot, and why don’t you paint the sculpture at all?”

In 1980, Visotsky died and Shemyakin began working on a riddle about a friend in the USA.

“I started making the first sketches from clay. Life-size,” said Shemyakin. - We carried the wrapped models into the park and put them on a chair. Here it was clear that from a distance of 5 meters, Petro was dealing with the enemies of an even short person, wanting to grow under two meters. And I started to thicken the tulub. Until the time when the proportions of the Russian icon arrive. And even on them the apostles have a crooked head and a long body...”

Shemyakin worked on the sculpture for 8 days. The inscription on the side of the pedestal says: “The founder of the Great City of the Russian Emperor Peter the Great is depicted by the Italian sculptor Carlo Rastrelli and by the Russian artist Mikhail Shemyakin. 1991 r_k. Made in America." Before the speech, in order to read these words you have to lose your head, so the sculptor once again makes us foolish with the emperor.

The figure is astonishing at the destruction of natural proportions: it looks like the bastards of the Kunstkamera, the head is a fox and is caricaturally small, the body is too large, a sheepskin coat, legs and arms are tightly stretched. Pointing fingers is especially noticeable. The stench is so long and thin that the arbiters called the monument “Petro-Spider”.

“My work was created not for observation and favor, but to reflect on the tragic fate of Russia’s remaining three centuries,” says the sculptor. “Perhaps, this is not the right time to come.”

Once the monument was created, many experts, including famous architects, advocated its installation in the Summer Garden. However, when the first mayor of the place, Anatoly Sobchak, came into contact with the sculpture, it was “shocking” that they revealed the white of the Commandant’s hut of the Peter and Paul Fort. It happened in the early 1991 that the historical name of St. Petersburg was returned to Leningrad, which further fueled the war. A wave of criticism immediately fell on Shemyakin’s work.

The attack was so intense that in the early days of the sculpture it was necessary to put up a guard to prevent vandalism. Just an hour before the new image of the autocrat, who sat on the throne, sounded and became a monument to St. Petersburg. Moreover, I am a Viconavian. There is a legend that if you rub Peter’s long fingers, everything will be resolved. With the right hand, pennies will be sniffled, with the left hand, it will become more creative. Well, if you sit still, everything will be good in your special life. And, judging by the fact that many fingers are literally flashing, and the knees may even be erased, dreams come true.

Sphinxy skeletons

This monument “To the Victims of Political Repression”, which re-interpreted the motives of the famous St. Petersburg sphinxes, was erected in 1995.

“The place opposite the Khrestya village is not casually laid out,” says Shemyakin. – There, the rocks of Stalin’s repressions necessitated the recognition of individuals of the sphinxes – the isolation of the brutal regime. On the sides of the living budins they have young women’s profiles, and on the side of the “Khrests” there are parts of the skull that are exposed. Between them is a stylized prison window with gates. This is how the life of the region was broken - one half lived with the unknown, the other died, no one knows why.”

Along the perimeter of the granite pedestals there are copper tablets, on which rows of works by Shalamov, Gumilyov, Mandelstam, Akhmatova, Zabolotsky, Andreev, Likhachov, Brodsky, Bukovsky, Solzhenitsyn, Visotsky are engraved. It shows how close life and death, freedom and humiliation, happiness and tragedy were in that desperate hour. The sphinxes' coats are thin and their tusks protrude from their fur, and their high-set heads convey a sense of terrible anxiety.

It’s amazing that when creating these images, the artist thought through the power of life. In the 70s, for his behavior that seemed inadequate to the regime, he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital with a diagnosis of “serious continuous schizophrenia.” And in 1971, for many years, they were driven out of the country, not allowing them to say goodbye to their fathers. For what? The bosses were not pleased with the rebel’s identification of the new movement “metaphysical synthetism.” True, life has shown that Vlada, without even suspecting it, gave Shemyakin a great service. Behind the cordon, he abandoned his life and became a giant of the world. Today, kings and heads of powers are friends with him. And people now come to Russia as often as they want. You have also seen the apartment on Fontanza under the orders of Volodymyr Putin. As the artist himself recognized, if the official to whom the president gave the order, tsked, in what term gave Shemyakin a hard time, the head of the state of the Soviet Union: “We kicked out on 71st, so the devil has come...”

Two shares

A special aspect of Shemyakin’s life is his friendship with Visotsky, whose stench was known to Mikhail Barishnikov when he was born in 1974.

“Our friendship was born right away, but it was clear that it would be like this,” Shemyakin said. - It seemed like we had known each other for a long time, but we had been separated for a long time. And now we need to speak out, to tell one another what is important and necessary for both of us.”

Visotsky dedicated his song to Shemyakin, who, in his own way, painted illustrations of the works of Volodymyr Semenovich. The famous “On the Great Karetny” is dedicated to their sleeping sprees. Zagalom Shemyakin created 42 illustrations “on the theme of Visotsky” - one for each stage of the life of the legendary actor. The monument to the poet, erected near Samara, became undistinguished. It was born on the 25th of June 2008, on the day of the 70th Bard. At the center of the composition is Visotsky in the role of Hamlet with a guitar in his hands. The right-hander is the man with the cloak, who distinguishes the “black man” and those destructive forces that accompanied the artist on his life’s path. The left hand on the grille is a visual aid from the key ring. Closer to the center is a woman with the guise of Marina Vladi, which symbolizes Kohana and Muse. Monument to the installations of the Samara Palace of Sports in 1967 Visotsky gave the first concerts in his life with an audience of six thousand.

Children are evil

This is the most scandalous monument to Shemyakin (installed in 2001 on Bolotnaya Square near Moscow).

“The composition was conceived and created by me, as a symbol and a call to the fight for the order of the present and future generation... I, as an artist, with this creation call upon those who are about to look around, almost immediately. And while it’s not too late, thoughtful and honest people need to come to their senses.”

In total there are 13 articles of vices and the stench is extremely high, so that the adults realize their worthlessness. Drug addiction, for example, is depicted as a fox-like man with cunning, unacceptable guises. Behind this evil man there is a wing, which is impossible to fly on. Rutsi has a syringe. It seems like an obsequious smile, you just need to accept this “gift” and everything will be fine... Prostitution reveals the volume of the appearance of a toad-like toad. She has a plump body and an unkempt robe, but there is no expression in her weather-beaten eyes, and her smile is wide-eyed. The sadism of the testimony of a rhinoceros from the “elected” butcher for his evil accusations. So one feels that the one who loves to torment the weak is the strongest. Preparations and Gunfire - this is for those who will close their eyes on the terrible stage, even if the stink has gone by. The war is also depicted with wings, but also in armor and gas masks. He hands the children a toy – Mickey Mouse. Just wrap the target's axle in a bomb.

The monster Shemyakin was so alive, so rich in his ingenuity, that the monument, in addition to the henchmen, the famous and the majority of opponents. It is included in the top 10 most controversial monuments of the capital. And after the sweep of the vandals, Vlada put the guard on guard, now the vices can be removed from the 9th morning until 9 pm. From now on it was like this in life.

Mikhailo Shemyakin is a Radiansky, American and Russian artist, sculptor. Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, People's Artist of Kabardino-Balkaria and Adigea, honorary doctor of universities in Europe, America and Russia. The temptation to emigrate under the threat of criminal reinvestigation in the early 1970s, a talented dropout with a diagnosis of “bad schizophrenia”, conquered Europe and America, becoming the most popular artist of the present.

Childhood and youth

Mikhailo Mikhailovich Shemyakin was born in the Russian capital in 1943. The artist has Kabardian roots: his father, who was orphaned early, took away the nickname Shemyakin from his stepfather. His dear father lived in the ancient Kabardian-Balkarian family of the Kardanovs. The artist’s mother, actress Yulia Predtechenskaya, was of noble descent. Shemyakin’s maternal grandfather is a graduate of the Marine Engineering School near Kronstadt. According to the words of the artist, his father, “there were shooters and soldiers in uniform.”

Yulia Mikolaevna, who during the rocks of the war moved from the city of Leningrad to Moscow and worked at the Theater on Tagans, gave birth to a son with another man, Colonel Shemyakin. Shortly after the birth of the people, the first woman moved to the man appointed commandant of the place of Skhidnaya Nimechchina. Until 14 years of age Mikhailo Shemyakin is a member of the People's Democratic Republic.

In 1957, the homeland turned to Leningrad. We settled in a communal apartment with 38 rooms. Bear and his mother, father and aunt lived in the same room. Father, a career military man, died for the sake of his share, and Shemyakin the Younger was filled with the mystique that his mother-actress was enjoying. In Germany, after spending years looking at albums with paintings, I.

Suddenly, my father left his family and went to the Krasnodar region, and young Mikhail Shemyakin, who had painted illustrations of Pushkin’s fairy tale about , was enrolled in the 2nd year of the secondary art school at the Institute of Painting im. .

Having gone through Shemyakin 4 rocks: the student was reviled for the “aesthetic promiscuity of his classmates.” Mikhailo generously shared with his colleagues the knowledge about the ancient mysticism gleaned from books collected from Spiltsa. 1961 Rock denunciation to the KDB putting a speck in the light.

The darkness of biography has arrived. To survive, Mikhailo Shemyakin took on any job: working as a blackrob, a leaf-nosed worker, a watchman, and a rigger in the Hermitage. At night we copied the paintings of ancient masters, experimenting.

Friends were visiting a lot of classmates, something that was not appropriate for communal neighbors. The upcoming denunciation at the KDB and the cry “on Rozmova” ended badly for Shemyakin: having educated the artist about God and the devil, he was sent to a psychiatric clinic. The medical record showed a diagnosis: “Fucking schizophrenia.”

After a few injections and walks, the ice did not transform the artist into a disabled person. The first “exhibition” was shown in the clinic: doctor Shemyakin showed student trainees illustrations of a patient before his creations. In this manner, the psychiatrist “illustrated” the overcoming of schizophrenia in a pedophile.

Through the efforts of his mother, Mikhailo stripped the walls of the clinic. After the bath, he developed an allergy to farbi, and had nightmares at night. Two years ago, the artist returned to a normal life in the mountains of Abkhazia.

Painter

Bazhanna, being closer to mystique, again brought Mikhail Shemyakin to the Hermitage, where he was in control of a variety of clothes. Having worked with the brigade, two-thirds of my colleagues were such unknown artists.

In 1962, the first exhibition of Shemyakin’s paintings was organized by the Leningrad magazine “Zirka”. The St. Petersburg intelligentsia became acquainted with the master’s creativity. After 2 years, the exhibition of works by artists in the Hermitage was supervised by the director, for which everyone paid – both the ignorant and the unknown artists.

Mikhailo Shemyakin was again left without a job, having survived several searches, during which time they confiscated reproductions of religious themes, buried books, and leaves from his mother. The robotless man was threatened with expulsion from the place for gratuitousness.

In 1967, Shemyakin organized the art group “Petersburg”. The tandem with the philosopher Volodymyr Ivanov took up the search for new forms of icon painting. 2 years ago I was a novice at the human Pskov-Pechersk monastery. Exhibitions of Mikhail’s paintings in the underground style were held by both the government and his colleagues, who created within the traditional, permitted framework.

Mikhail Shemyakin’s robots were a big hit at Zakhoda. The emigrants’ daughter, gallery owner Dina Verni, helped the artist’s friends emigrate after they had separated. Nezabar for the squad and daughter Pishov Shemyakin. He was sent to emigrate without being allowed to take away the small bag of speeches.

In Paris, Mikhail met with friends and Verni. France began a new life as an artist, first and foremost and between the evil ones. Friends helped us find the location of the abandoned billiard club. Natomist Shemyakin rejoiced in freedom, avidly reading defense books, learning the mysteries of the past and painting.

The series of works “Carnivals of St. Petersburg”, “Metaphysical Heads”, “In the Morning of Paris” brought fame to Mikhail Shemyakin. Europeans learned about the paintings of the Russian master at an exhibition organized by designer Jean-Claude Gobert in the mid-1970s. Agreements and contracts fell to the master as a result of his wealth. They wanted to buy his paintings and hung them in the black.

The cultural middle of Paris seemed boring to Mikhail Shemyakin. He worked tirelessly - painting, sculptors, seeing the almanac "Apollo", revealing to Zad the names of Russian avant-garde artists and impressionists. Ale France increasingly “squeezed” the artist into the bourgeoisie and the calm of the city. Having visited New York, Shemyakin was in a different element: he felt the hectic pace of life and was consumed to the depths of the world's creative mastery.

At the beginning of the 1980s, Mikhailo Shemyakin moved to the United States and became a citizen. This family gave the advantage to warm and calm Greece. The first rock master lives in Soho, which in the mid-80s transformed into the Mecca of the artistic bohemia of New York.

After 8 years, Shemyakin added a new castle in two years from the stormy place to Klaveraka. Having placed sculptural and artistic masterpieces in the spacious rooms. Nezabar became an active member of the New York Academy of Sciences and an academician of European sciences. Russia became familiar with the rich creativity of Mikhail Shemyakin in the late 1980s.

Special life

First squad Rebekah Modlina, originally from Leningrad, is an artist and sculptor. Slub from Shemyakin was her third. In 1964, she gave birth to a human daughter, Doroteya Shemyakina. The daughter followed in her father’s footsteps and became an artist and book designer.

With another squad - transfer worker Sarah de Kay - the artist became acquainted with friendship. Sarah was translating an American film about a Radian bard. They recommended that they contact Visotsky’s friend.

The scars on the face and body of Mikhail Shemyakin, in his words, were a legacy of an opical injury at the distillery. Walking is sensitive, as if the artist had wounded himself while intoxicated with alcohol.

Breeches, so that the cassette became Shemyakin’s “trademark” garment, but he explains their wear for everyday and physiological reasons. The visor of the casket protects the ailment of the eyes from the light, and high cares are protected from the snakes that were found in the French village, where the remaining 25 rocks are alive, the master.

Mikhailo Shemyakin now

Russia often has artists and sculptors. For yogo vyzannanyam, live in letaku. Moscow and St. Petersburg have similar projects in progress. Vin designs exhibitions, organizes art and sculpture exhibitions, and builds monuments.

Shemyakin’s talent is rich. The monument to the robot master stands at the Peter and Paul Fort. Mariinka artists perform in costumes painted by the artist for the ballet “Luskunchik”. Jewelry boxes, created by the artist, molded into a SASONKO jewelry box.

Mikhailo Shemyakin, who calls sleep an unparalleled luxury, spends his time painting canvases, organizing music festivals, appearing in television projects and guessing Yalink games.

On Instagram there is a page of the St. Petersburg Mikhail Shemyakin Center, where entries with his participation are announced.

Create sculptures and paintings by Mikhail Shemyakin not only in Russia, but also in the West. The public is captivated by the author’s unique creativity, mastery and unparalleled efficiency. Much of his work is based on a profound change, which can be avoided by not being familiar with the master’s biography. His difficult fate has repeatedly experienced significant challenges, extraordinary developments and turning points. Shemyakin, living in America, loses his loyalty to his Fatherland, often comes to Russia for specially organized creative meetings, exhibitions, and presentations.

Biographical facts: youth

Mikhailo was born near Moscow at wartime. His father was originally from Kabardino-Balkaria. Being a cadre military officer, Shemyakin Sr. did not realize that his son became an artist. Mother encouraged little Bear in his aspirations. This young man starts painting from the very beginning before school, develops his skills, reads a lot of books, among them the history of the Soviet Socialist Republic. For these reasons there was a denunciation and accusations from the initial mortgage.

Shemyakina has been re-investigating problems with great authority over the years. The creative spirit did not directly control the party leaders. The young artist continued to work effortlessly, at the same time taking control of the Hermitage, and at the right time took up copying in the work of the old masters.

Important fates

An hour later, following the denunciation, Mikhail was arrested and admitted to a psychiatric hospital. The rich culture of these rocks is not unique to the same share. The doctor conducted cruel experiments on the sick, which had a negative impact on the psyche and led to serious mental disorders in certain patients.

The artist was diagnosed with “schizophrenia”; Mikhail Shemyakin’s paintings from that period were shown to confirm the illness. The great zusil varto mothers “pulled” the son from the clinic. And for a long time, Mikhailo sorted out his mental health: living as a wilderness far from his ears, initially in the mountains, then at the monastery, before achieving success in treating himself and his fears.

Paintings by artist Mikhail Shemyakin were present at exhibitions in 1962 and 1964. Otherwise, the creation of current mystery was not properly assessed: all participants and organizers were punished. There were numerous raids in Shemyakin’s apartment. During this period, he became friends with Rebekah Modlina, and in 1964 a daughter was born, who took her from him - Dorothea. The family had to emigrate at the beginning of the 70s: the Radyansky Union was deprived of life and Shemyakin was unsafe and threatened with arrest.

In emigration

Shemyakin arrived in France practically penniless and without speeches. The first fates of the founding of a foreign land were uneasy. I had to do a lot of practice, and in one hour - I had to read it thoroughly and thoroughly understand it. Contract work practically did not bring in any income; all the money went to farming and materials for painting. Ale Meister was for the sake of giving freedom, acquaintance with people of today - cultural figures, painters, musicians and writers.

The colo-smelting significantly influenced the creativity of Mikhail Mikhailovich - the paintings of the artist Shemyakin became more thorough and mature. The rulers of the galleries more often killed them with respect. Today's mysticism became fashionable right at the start of America.

This is where one of the significant moments of the artist’s Parisian period of life emerged: his acquaintance with Visotsky. Secular interests and hoardings, a similar living position brought two strong personalities closer together. This friendship lasted for many years, right up to the death of the musician. Until this day, Shemyakin warmly remembers his friend, dedicating the book “Two Shares” to him, for which he was assigned.

Roboti master

After moving beyond the border, the color of Mikhail Shemyakin’s paintings became rich, new colors appeared. The dynamics of the image became noticeable, new techniques for applying a palette to the canvas began to emerge. The author began to illustrate Solzhenitsyn’s novel, drawing on the theme of St. Petersburg. His predecessors emphasized contrast in the works, respect for details, metaphysics of forms and plasticity of figures. Within an hour, Mitsets had become a participant in the competition founded by the Japanese gallery. International success will come to the master. Continuing to develop his creativity, Shemyakin began to engage in sculpture and moved to New York.

Life in America

Mikhailo Shemyakin does not describe his paintings in any melodious style, but means that he creates his works according to the principle of “metaphysical synthetism.” The robots evoke the viewers' emotions with their brightest colors, attract attention with their bright palette and marvelous characters.

The decision to move to America was connected with the desire for freedom, and the constant deprivation of creativity. Here the artist showed the ability to create monumental works. Shemyakin works at the powerful castle, to love peace and tranquility. First of all, assign a friend of his squad, Sarah, the transfer man, to look after him.

Great works of sculpture were created. For example, a monument to Peter I was erected near St. Petersburg. This is not a single monument, brought to Russia. After the collapse of the USSR, Mikhailo Mikhailovich began to frequent the Batkivshchyna. Now and here the paintings of Mikhail Shemyakin have gained popularity.

Paintings by Mikhail Shemyakin

The so-called “paintings from Smith” gained wide popularity. The stench was created by the singing technique. The artist walks the streets of great places and captures on camera asphalt covered with stains and cracks. Then, based on these photographs, they create miracles. The outlines of the characters appear, the picture “comes to life”, a farb emerges. Cycles of work can be periodically shown at exhibitions in Russia and beyond the border.
